A Very Happy Birthday

As some of you know, May 15 is my birthday!  I know that I am a little late.  Reba , my best friend, wanted me to do a post on my birthday but I was way to busy then.  And now it has been way longer than I was expecting but you know how time flies.  For lunch we went quite a ways deep into the National Forest and had a picnic on a small bridge that runs over a lovely creek.  It was a perfect day and we all had a wonderful time.  After we ate we saw a medium sized snake sun bathing on a rock.  After we scared it off, some of the kids, me included, went for a swim, and some of the parents went for a hike.  Don't worry, some of the parents stayed with us while we swam.  It was a blast!!!  Then for supper, we had home-made pizza!  And Nikki , my best friend, made her famous icing to put on the white cake.  Mmmmmm.  So good.  Thanks Nikki!  My sister, Hattie, posted some pictures on her blog of the occasion.  Thanks everybody for making it a very special day, and one that I will never forget.

Gardening and a Good Movie

The heat is here and in full force.  I saw one day recently that the thermometer said 80 in the shade and 109.4 in the sun.  The humidity is terrible.  It might as well be raining!  And just as the heat is arriving Mom is hitting the garden hard.  We have not done as much so far as we had done this time last year.  But we do have: potatoes, carrots, lettuce, spinach, onions, garlic, lots of herbs, broccoli, and cabbage.  We have had soooo much rain this spring that it has delayed our garden planting, but Mom is determined that we will catch up so that is what we have been working on all today.  We planted 30 tomato plants, six rows of peas, and some radishes.  That does not sound like a lot but when you think about hoeing the rows and not to mention all of the rocks!!  So now Mom is cooking hamburgers, fried potatoes, and baked beans.  And today we got "Tuck Everlasting" from Netflix.  So I am going to try and get Hattie to watch it with me.  If you have not seen it you really should, it is a cool movie.  Here are some pictures from the movie.

The Royal Wedding!!

How exciting it was to see the royal wedding live on TV!  My best friends Nikki and Reba had the TV set up in their camper complete with pretzels, ice cream, loads of candy and best of all,  Nikki had made her famous cupcakes complete with a "W" and a "C" for William and Catherine.  We had a bunch of fun even though we had to get up at like 2:45.  (I am more of a late night person.)  Wasn't her dress wonderful!!  It was so classic but yet it had a feel of modern.  And it was so much like Grace Kelly's wedding dress!  I also like the fact that it did not have an outrageously long train.  The whole wedding was so neat!  *happy sigh*

And best of all, their first kiss!!!!!!!  Soooo sweet!
